This district houses approximately 1,275 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with a number of academic programs offering an educational experience that lasts a lifetime, with a healthy lifestyle inside an educational community promoting always integrity and mutual respect.

Elementary, Middle and High school programs at Port Jefferson School District develops effective thinking with appreciation of the arts and proficient use of technology. There are also Guidance counselors available in all of the district's schools to confer with parents for any particular student's requirement.

The district's Community Service program develops leadership, responsibility and communication skills among students, who have the opportunity to interact with other young people in their environment, helping disadvantaged persons, disabled people and senior citizens.
