Adelphi University provides undergraduate and graduate degrees; this University is an independent institution and is chartered by the University of the State of New York with the following accreditations; New York State Education Department, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, American Psychological Association, Council on Social Work Education and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Adelphi University was the first college built on long Island way back in June of 1896.Its first classes started out with just 57 students with a small faculty of 16 educators. Today Adelphi University is proud to be in its second century of providing higher learning degrees for students who want to study at their University. It's had a long standing commitment to providing quality undergraduate and graduate education and to offer professional preparation of the first rank in arts, education, business, clinical psychology, social work, nursing and other health sciences.

Adelphi University

Adelphi University hold to the vision of being the leader in the region for undergraduates, graduate students, with a faculty who value excellence in teaching, learning, research, scholarship, creative activity, and service to one's community. The University will be known for the competence of its graduates, its strong programs and interdisciplinary orientation; it welcomes the community onto the campus, and its impact on the broader society through educational, economic, intellectual and cultural initiatives.

Now Adelphi University is well organized and it has 4 different campuses each focused on different educational degrees. Garden City is the main campus and it sits just about 45 minutes from New York City. The campus spreads out across a huge 75 acre track and is close to some wonderful beaches and scenic parks. The Garden City campus serves for undergraduate and graduate degrees, post-doctoral study, and adult education programs through its schools-The College of Arts and Sciences, the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, the Honors College, the Adult Undergraduate Degree Program, and the Schools of Business, Education, Nursing, and Social Work.

The Hudson Valley Center offers the exclusive M.S.W program; it has been providing small class sizes targeting student's individual student needs for thirty years. Graduates of this study are known to land jobs with well acknowledged social service agencies and provide an endless expanding network of contacts for students. To complete this program it requires 64 credits, now the Hudson Valley Center is located at 457 Maple Street Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

The Manhattan Center schedules classes in the evening or on weekends to accommodate working students. This campus offers graduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Social Work. Undergraduate programs include Social Work, Nursing, and a Bachelor's Degree program for adults. It's located at 75 Varick Street, Second Floor, New York, NY, at the intersection of Varick and Canal Streets. The main entrance is one block north of Canal Street. The main intersection is one block north of Canal Street on the west side of Varick Street at the intersection with Grand Street.

The Hauppauge Center is known to be the second largest industrial park in the United States. This Center offers M.B.A, M.S.W., and M.A. in General Psychology and School Psychology. M.S.W. pupils can attain a Post Master's Certificate in Human Resource Management.

There is a Bachelor's Degree Program for Adults which is designed to allows students who are balancing careers and families to earn their associate's or bachelor's degree. Starting this fall of the ABLE program will offer a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration at the Center.

Adelphi University is filled with the best in sports; it has Baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, lacrosse, softball, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball to. So if you love sports Adelphi provides some of the best.

Every year some 3,300 undergraduate students pursue degrees with Adelphi in one of its 60 undergraduate programs, with a ratio of students to faculty of 14-to-1. Eight schools serve Adelphi students: the College of Arts and Sciences; the Honors College; University College; the schools of Business, Education, Nursing, and Social Work; and the Derner Institute of Psychology. Adelphi undergraduates emerge with excellent scholarly training for graduate study and practical preparation for careers in the arts and sciences, business, medicine, law, education, nursing, psychology, and social work.

This University rewards students who have demonstrated achievement in their academic performance, athletics, dance, drama, fine arts, music, communications, and community service. There is a new scholarship program for all high schools in Nassau County; you can pick up information in the guidance offices. Facts show that around 88 percent of Adelphi freshmen receive some form of institutional aid. In addition to merit based awards, students may be eligible for a financial assistance package based on need. Adelphi's 2000 freshman class was the largest in five years, with more than 630 freshmen entering the University. Average SAT scores and grade-point averages have risen as well.
