Momof4 -> scholarships (10/4/2006 12:08:00 PM)

Hi, Does anyone know of any scholarships that I could apply for my son entering into high school?  All I seem to find is scholarships for students already in high school or students applying for college.  My son is in the 8th grade.  Thanks so much.

Try calling your rectory. Our parish offers a couple of scholarships to Parishioners

Also, local Hibernian groups or K of C, Emerald Society, Holy Name Society ----
but most of these you need to already be a member for a certain period of time.

Good luck.

I havent checked, but you might look at the diocesan website:  www.drvc.org

The Catholic Daughters in our parish gave one 8th grader a scholarship.  The only reason I know is because I saw it in the bulletin.  I don't know if his mother or grandmother was a member, I don't know the family.  I don't know what the requirements were.  Nassau/Suffolk CYO offered scholarships last year.  You would have to contact them to see what the requirements are.  Website is www.cyons.org  I would also call your rectory, and try the K of C, as the other poster suggested.  Good luck.

My son got a scholarship based on his results from taking the entrance exam..   I think you have to do really well on the exam.  Get the study guides and maybe have the student take a class.
