Hi, my son also must go to Central Islip schools next year, Kindergarten, and I am concerned about the quality of education. From what I am hearing their Early Childhood Center for Kindergarten is very good, however I have not been able to obtain much information about the other schools in the district. I have heard some good and some bad about Central Islip schools The test scores indicates that the scores are lower in Central Islip however its hard for me to determine whether that is due to the demographics (very diverse ethnic backgrounds) in the area, lack of parent involvement, or the quality of the schools. Ideally I would like to think that the schools are good if there is intense parental involvement with the school, the PTA, and the Board of Education. It is such a burden on Long Island to pay for private school and the high taxes. I am thinking of sending my son to the public schools for the first few years until he gets older. Anyone have any thoughts or insight about Central Islip Schools? Anyone know anything about the Kindergarten program and the elementary schools? I also would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
