full day kindergarten - 5/22/2006 1:38:33 PM

I am curious as to why some districts in Nassau County have full day kindergarten and some still have half day.  My district (East Meadow) still has half day and my daughter will be in Kindergarten in 2 years and I am a working parent.  I find it to be ridiculous that I will have to pay for a half day of day care when she can be in a full day school setting.

Who can I contact in my school district to see if any changes will be made by the time my daughter gets to kindergarten?  Please let me know.

I had that same situation when moving from Riverhead to Miller Place.  Riverhead has a full day k, Miller Place only half day.  I was told by the school
councelor that they had too many k's and not enough classrooms/teachers.  Basically they need to add more k classes and more teachers in order to accomodate full day k's.  Money, money, money!
