Smithtown(both east and west) have very strong school systems. In the past 10 years or so they've combined the two school systems then re-separated, but both have very strong professionals, good selection of AP classes and other activities. Would highly recommend. Would move back in a second if it worked with our commute.

be sure to check out the class sizes....a little too high fo my liking
30-32 in a middle school class ?!!

I contemplated moving to Smithtown from the Three Village School district. A teacher friend told me to stay put; better programs, smaller classes in Three Village. Three Village is big, but has only 1 HS -- Smithtown is way too big and even an other friend who lives in Smithtown (east HS) also thought her children were missing out on programs in the HS. Too many fish in the pond, so to speak.
