My wife and I are considering sending our kids to private school, and I was wondering if anyone had any input on this topic, or any input on the Oceanside Schools.

Great schools, lower than average taxes, very high rate of parent involvement.

I personally don't go there, but i have plenty of friends that go there who say that student participation is excellent, academics are excellent, i don't know the status of security (better than west hempstead..oops did i say that?) but i do know that it is a very, very good school to consider.  Take it from a senior who has friends who have went to and who are going to catholic schools: CATHOLIC SCHOOL IS VERY OVER-HYPED AND ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS GOOD, YOUR CHILD WILL NOT ENJOY IT LIKE REGULAR SCHOOL.

Yes, of course they won't enjoy Catholic school as much as "regular" school.  But, you go should be going to school to learn, not just to have fun.  In the "regular" school you'll get away with a lot more.

First of all there is only Catholic pre-k and nursery school in Oceanside at St. Anthony's in O-side. Since you have to pay the same for public pre-k and nursery in the public school a lot of practicing catholics send their kids their and then onto the public schools. Out of the 80 kids my two daughters spent time with, four classes of 20 only one kid went on to catholic elementary school. That parent sent them to RVC and did it mainly cause they were planning to trade up their.
