My husband and I will be moving to North Woodmere shortly and I am wondering if any can give me some insight regarding the Lawrence School District (#15). I have small children (2.9yrs and 7 mos) who will be schooled within that district. The only Pk-K program is in Inwood (Number 4 School).

I can't speak for the academics in that district but there has been much publicity regarding the current school board. The majority of board members do not utilize the district and send their children to private yeshivas. The do not have the best interests of the children in the schools at heart. I would steer clear of that district if possible until the board fulfills their responsibility of putting the academics and safety of the student body ahead of their agandas. The Lawrence board is an example of democracy at it's worst.

You would have to send your child to a private school. The Lawrence/ Woodmere Academy and Friends Academy are good options but you will have to pay for those. Your public school options are limited to the district you reside in. Good luck.
I have heard that they have had a lot of budget issues in Lawrence. I have never heard anything good nor terrible, but I would definitely investigate more.
