Hi, friends,
Our family will move to Long Islans area and my Gr.11 son and Gr.8 son have to apply a private school. Could anybody kindly tell me which school is the best? Both boys are good students and they are very talented on music and athletics . And, the important thing is,they both want to go to a good Universty as possible. I really appreciat if you could give me any info. Thanks very much in advance!:)

Try Smithtown Christian School, 1 Higbie Dr., Smithtown NY 11782.  They have a good athletics dept., and a strong music program.  the phone is (631) 265-3334.  They go from pre-k to 12, and graduates go on to almost any college they want to.

I forgot to tell you that the tuition is about $5000 yearly, with discounts for multiple children.  The curriculum is extensive, but there is no BOCES (career training) program.  Bussing is available from your district.  The school day is from 8:30 to 3:10.  There are also yearbook and journalism classes, a theatre class, debate, and Latin.  There is also a strong parent-teacher organization.

You might me interested in the Ross School in East Hampton. It uses a curriculum based on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, so it should be good for every kind of learner (musical and bodily-kineshetic).

Catholic schools are not private schools.  Portledge, in Locust Valley, is propably the best on Long Island.
