Hi I live in Farmingdale and I hear how the High School is so bad. How true is this? What goes on there that is has such a bad reputation? Thank You.

I live in and went to school in Farmingdale, I graduated from Farmingdale and so did my sister,brother,cousins and my son, I have no idea what the problem is. I wish I knew. I'm trying to sell my house and although everyone who sees the house loves it as soon as they hear dist22, they say not interested. Several people ask up front what school district and when they hear Farmingdale dist 22 they won't even look at the house......can anyone tell me what they think is so bad....I have compared dist18,dist23 to 22 and I see some minor variations in stats, some stats like percent teachers with phds and advanced ed degrees are higher in Farmingdale

There have been articles about gangs in the farmingdale school district. I am not sure how true it is.

my father graduated from Farmingdale and has nothing but great memorys from that place. However, he graduated with the class of '72 so it has probably changed since 35 years ago.

I'm a senior there. It's an okay school. Some of the teachers are amazing...corcoran in eco....rossi in hum 11, but some of the teachers there are just horrendous. I took chemistry last year and everyone in my class, including me, except for one student failed the regents. The teacher is still working there and is still teaching chemistry. The administration did nothing about it. I have to apply to top schools now with a failing chem regents grade, but other than that the school isn't that bad. I'm in the wind ensemble and our wind ensemble and jazz band are top notch...level 6 gold for over 10 years. I'm in ap art and my teacher is the bomb. Mr. Golbert left this school district in the end of last year, so there is a new teacher for ap music theory, but its a teacher that i had back when i was in 2nd grade. The school is pretty sweet, but there are a lot of drug deals during the school day. You'll see a kid hand some other kid 20 bucks and then that kid slips something in his or her pocket. A big pot and coke school. There is supposed to be no smoking on school grounds, but no one enforces that rule. They care more about an ipod in someone's ear than drugs being sold in the commons.

But.....i've had some great memories in f'dale. I'm gonna miss it.

when i get to school this is what i look like, then i snort some coke off of my desk and get

. crazy crack ass bitches go to this school. maddddd niggz from the ville. some of the teachers fuck the students. our security guard got shot at by them...over some fucking drug deal that goes on about 100 times a day. i was walking through the woods with my gat and some fucking crazy ass bitch came out of no where and tried to shank me. dumb nigga! put a cap in that niggz ass! i gotta get back to class. high school has been awesome so far

As a alum of FHS who is in college now Farmingdale is definitly on the decline.
I can honestly say that maybe 2 classes I took there really prepared me for college.
Teachers are nice but the resources are limited.
The amount of fights and drug use on school grounds is really terrible.
The smoking is disgusting, there is a constant smell of smoke in halls and outside.
Security really needs to be better enforced. The guards there now are friends with the very kids they should be writing up or yelling at. Instead they joke so the bad kids do not feel they are doing anything bad.
Sports revolves around Football and Lax but thats the way it has always been there and always will be.
Ironic though, I plan to be a High School teacher and FHS is definitly a school I would consider working at!

Send your kids to private school.

Does anybody know what a bad school really is??? Believe me, Farmingdale does not belong in that category.

Yes, due to the way the district is drawn there is a bit higher percentage of minorities compared to some of the neighboring districts like Massapequa, Plainedge or Bethpage. Do you know what this means? It means absolutely nothing! Well, it does mean that most of the F'dale "horror" stories are generated by the kids themselves. It makes them feel all "big" and "bad ass" compared to their "lilly white" neighboring districts. Das rite..we da tuff skool!

As far as complaints like "I failed chem" or "I wasn't prepared enough for college", It sounds like those individuals were dealing with something most kids their age are dealing with. They're young, and immature and by the time they start to get a bit of a clue and figure it out. They're already in college wondering how they messed up. That's right..they'll do what everybody else does today. Blame someone else.

Now for a dose of reality...
Do you know there are drugs in Jericho HS? If you want to believe that there are places protected from drugs and alchohol then go right ahead. Just understand you're not dealing in reality.

Gangs? Ditto...and as far a F'dale goes the end of Secatogue will also cut the local activity a bit.

Lilly white means better? Here's a fact,the lilly white schools have plenty of drugs and gangs too, but their biggest bonus is they graduate a awful lot more racists. No exposure to other cultures creates less tolerance and understanding. See Imus for a better grasp on that.
