Appreciate information on school and district choice fo... - 5/9/2008 6:49:35 AM

Dear forum,

Coming October, my wife and I will likely move to New York and we would like to find some more information on our best choice of school and school district for our two five year old boys. This choice will be very important to us and will probably prove leading in our choice of residence.

The information that we look for, would ideally allow us to find:

  • A district that is safe and would allow us to raise our children free from violence and with an open mind to other people of other ethnical and cultural backgrounds.

  • A school that offers a class based program that focuses on and tailors to the individual development of our children, for instance a program that is influenced by the Montesori or Dalton doctrines.

  • A school that would not promote religion and that would only present facts as facts when there is a scientific base to do so. We need our children to be taught that respect for people is based on people’s actions and intentions and not based on their religion or lack thereof.

As you may have read between the lines, our boys are not yet fluent in English and we would therefore appreciate a school that is either international by setup or could accomodate for that as well.

Any help on finding our next source will be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,
Ariaen
